For today’s article, let’s set the scene:
Friend 1: I’m thinking about buying a van.
Friend 2: Nice! But what for?
Friend 1: Honestly… not sure. Maybe a business?
Friend 2: If I were buying one, I’d go for a camper van. Something I could take on road trips but still be comfy in.
Friend 1: Yeah, that does sound good.
Friend 2: Imagine if one van could do both…
…And Cut!

Enough of the role play — back to reality!
Because in the real world, two founders actually did think of this idea… and turned it into a business.
Today, we’re heading to España! 🇪🇸
Meet VanCubic👋
Founded in 2020, VanCubic builds modular, plug-and-play conversion kits that turn ordinary cargo vans into fully functional camper vans — all without making a single permanent change to the vehicle.
How it works?🛠️
VanCubic’s setup is built around two main plug-in modules: one for the bedroom and one for the kitchen. Each module slides straight into the van and is secured with heavy-duty slings — no drilling, no permanent changes.
All the electrics and water systems are built directly into the modules, so installation is fast, simple, and usually done in under an hour.
Any Challenges?🤔
From reviews, there are a few challenges with this business.
1. Storage Space
When you’re not using the camper setup, where do the modules go? They’re big, and storing them isn’t exactly effortless.
2. Does the Convenience Justify the Cost?
Some people simply want either a cargo van or a camper van. For them, swapping modules—especially at this price point—might feel like more hassle than it’s worth.
3. Limited Interior Room
Because the modules take up a lot of space, there isn’t much leftover room for transporting extra belongings once the van is “camperized.”
4. Aesthetic Constraints
The modules are mass-produced, so they may not match the personal style or aesthetic some customers want in a camper build.
How well are they doing? 📈
The challenges above might sound like deal-breakers, but they’re far from it. In fact, VanCubic raised a €500k funding round this February, backing their plans to expand and diversify their product range to fit more types of vans. Clearly, investors still see strong potential—and customers do too.
As the company grows, it’s likely they’ll tackle many of these hurdles (and may already be working on them).
But who knows… maybe you could build something that beats them to it.
Till next time,
