Have you heard of the Iron Dome?

Okay I’ll tell you— The Iron Dome is a short-range air-defense system designed to protect civilian areas and military sites from rockets, artillery shells, and some types of drones. The Iron Dome detects incoming rockets and predicts whether they will hit a populated or important area. If they pose a threat, it launches an interceptor that destroys them in mid-air.
Why are you telling me this?🤨
Good question- because someone has actually copied the idea. Don’t worry—no rockets, missiles, or secret facilities involved. They’ve simply taken the concept…and brought it indoors. Today, we’re heading to China! 🇨🇳
Introducing the Photon Matrix👋
Meet the Photon Matrix, a creation from a Chinese private company that can reportedly detect a mosquito—and determine its distance, orientation, and body size—in just 3 milliseconds.
Translation? No more frantic swatting, awkward lunges, or itchy revenge bites. Just a sleek, efficient solution.
What Technology does it use?📡
The Photon Matrix relies on a LiDAR (light detection and ranging) module, which sends out tiny bursts of laser light and measures how long they take to bounce back. Once it detects a mosquito this way, a second galvanometer-guided laser locks on instantly—delivering a precise, lethal zap.
Challenges🤔
Now, don’t get too excited—this isn’t an all-purpose insect execution system. The Photon Matrix only detects mosquitoes moving under 1 meter per second. Anything faster? It becomes invisible.
And of course, there's the big question: how flawless is the tech? A few bugs in the system (pun intended) could change everything.
Opportunities 💸
Right now, the company is just getting started, fueled by crowdfunding and early believers. But with benefits this strong, the ceiling is sky-high. Perhaps this is more than a product—it might be the spark for your own big leap.
Till next time,
